Raikes Beef Co. offers USDA prime beef that is born, raised, and harvested in Nebraska. We opened the doors to our farm to table beef shop, located in historic downtown Ashland, in May 2017. The Raikes family started their journey west across the United States in the early 1800s and ultimately settled in the Nebraska Territory in 1854. In 1900 Levi Carter Raikes moved to his 160 acre homestead north of Ashland, which still serves as the center of our farming operation today.
ABOUT RAIKES BEEF
OUR HERITAGE
OUR BEEF
We believe the best way to provide good care and nutrition to our family is to take pride in providing excellent animal care and nutrition to our cattle. From our ranches and farms to our processing partners, we are involved in every step of the process. There’s nothing fake or alternative about what we’re doing, we simply put quality and excellence first. Our cattle are grass fed, grain finished, and always hormone free. We offer 100% Nebraska born and raised American Wagyu and Angus beef. Scroll down to learn about our breeds.
AMERICAN WAgyu
Our American Wagyu beef, also known as American Kobe Style Beef is a carefully selected hybrid of purebred Wagyu and Black Angus cattle breeds. The word “Wagyu” translates to “Japanese cow”, a breed which is genetically predisposed for their intense fat marbling. Our crossbreed yields meat that has a higher percentage of omega-3 compared to cattle more commonly found in the US. It’s a perfect marriage resulting in the best flavor and tenderness characteristics of both genetics.
ANGUS
Angus cattle, also known as Aberdeen Angus is a Scottish breed that originated in north-eastern Scotland and usually black in color. Black Angus is the most common breed of beef cattle in the United States and more suited to colder weather. The cattle have a high muscle mass and also known for their marbling qualities, which makes it a great candidate for crossbreeding.
